A newsletter for creatives

Ever gotten bored and wanted to try something new? Consider yourself a creative, but fit under multiple labels? This newsletter is for you!

Every 1-2 months, I gather inspiration from a variety of fields — from coding to design, writing, and even travel. You'll find a hodgepodge of ideas and experiments to kickstart your own creative work.

Below are excerpts from the first issue, sent on October 9, 2026.

🎨 Making a tote bag

We visited some friends of ours that had a Cricut machine, and they showed us how to customize tote bags! You have the machine cut the design out on a material; in this case, vinyl, which we transferred onto the tote bag using an iron.

Some libraries have what's called a “Library of Things”, where you can check out objects (even Cricut machines sometimes!) for use. Other libraries may have maker spaces where you can go in and use a machine there. So definitely something to check out!

📝 Preparing for Novel November

It's been a longstanding tradition in the writing community to dedicate the month of November to writing 50k words for a novel (or other type of work). October is often called “Preptober”, where writers make preparations to ensure that November goes as smoothly as possible.

I've wanted to participate in NovNov several times, but never actually did for more than a few days. Since I'll be traveling a lot in the upcoming weeks (and also have other things I want to work on), I'm unsure if I'll have the bandwidth to take on a challenge this intense. But I'm definitely taking advantage of all the free writing workshops being offered right now! 😏

(If you're interested, I recommend signing up for ProWritingAid's Novel November, AutoCrit's Novel 90, or Reedy's Novel Sprint 2026, as I feel they have the best resources available, at least from what I can tell.)

Quotes, sayings, and things to think about

I shall close with these additional images captured during our travels from the past few months — from the Holocaust Museum, the U.S. History Museum, the FBI Experience, and the USS Midway Museum. (If the words are too small, you should be able to right click on an image and open it in a new tab.)
